She sighed heavily, working her way through the enormous mountain of papers, one that threatened to crush a passing fly. Finally her arms reached for the ceiling and legs spread right out, a position matching the noise of hopelessness that escaped her lips. There was no way in hell she would finish this all by tomorrow. Why had she let all the invoices pile up... Stupid Evans! She cursed herself mentally.
Yet the name she had muttered brought an involuntary smile to her lips. Evans... she would never quite be used to that. Though Soul really hated that name, she loved it's feeling rolling off her tongue, now something they shared more than a bed. It linked them. It made them special. Her smile refused to fade even as she twirled the simple band around her finger.
Simplicity, thou name was Soul Eater Evans. Of the things Maka admired about her weapon and her husband, that was defiantly one. All of his actions had a simple motive behind them, but it was so straightforward- unlike her worthless papa, who lied constantly to her. Soul- Soul was different. He was that type who kissed her cheek because he could, held her hand in public, and took all opportunities to tell her she was the most beautiful girl in the world. Coming from his mouth, she would believe it. She would believe anything he said. Like the day he spoke those words to her the first time- and every time after, she got the same swoop in her chest and colored cheeks; even now, after a few years to grow used to it.
The biggest challenges in life were no more, not even medical school. She had been able to endure all those classes and ridiculous assignments because he was there, to talk to, complain to, and cry on when everything sucked and, to coin the phrase, was going to hell. Fingers lost in her hair, he'd whispered words to his angel to get her to fly. Those weren't even the biggest words of all.
When Stein had proposed to Marie, he'd done nothing more than walked into her class and handed her a ring, asking that vital question in front of fifty-something students. It had been an event, because everybody in that room had risen like a tidal wave in cheering, and Miss Marie burst into tears on the spot. Maka had been convinced that Soul, if he ever did ask, would do something at least that extravagant. Not what he really had done. They often went into the desert to look up at the stars, it was their way of spending time together. If she closed her eyes now, she was back in his arms, listening to his rough voice.
"Hey Maka. Do you love me?"
"Yes. I love you."
"You'd do anything for me."
"Anything."
With that he'd planted a kiss on her cheek, slipping something around her finger. "Then marry me"was what he muttered in her ear. If she sat completely still, she could fill that tingling that she once felt when he'd put it on...
"Maka, you can leave for tonight if you want." A certain Death the Kid pulled her from her from her memories, making her jump. He grinned at her, leaning on the doorway of his school. "I can convince father to give you some more time on those."
"You're a lifesaver Kid." She stood with a smile, grabbing her jacket. "I owe you."
"Repay me by saying hello to your little one." He smiled, then continued walking to the library like he had being doing previously. Little one was Kid's fond name for his goddaughter- Eve.
Eve was the most beautiful girl on the earth. Now, every parent will say that about their child, but Maka truly thought so. Her hair was crystal white like her daddy's, eyes grass green like her mama. Tinkling laughter was something she was good at, enough to make hearts melt on the spot. This sometimes got her spoiled, but Eve was mindful of her charm- enough to use it for her own devious purposes. This often involved coaxing her father into more ice cream than was truly necessary.
Maka walked home thinking of Eve, and how much she missed her. Being the school nurse came with lots of messes and long hours. She came to really appreciate all the work that Nygus-sensei had put into the job- since she and Soul had been in there too many times to count.
By habit, Maka always checked her home with soul perception before going in. She had expected no one- Soul had taken Eve out for the day, and knowing those two they wouldn't be back for a long while after dark. But her heart skipped when she saw one orange soul with sharp teeth and one lime green one, close together.
Here two favorite people were here.
She tried hard not to run up the stairs to their apartment, but excitement seemed to burst from no where and give her the energy to do so. Stopping outside the door, she waited to regain her breath and calm her happy soul.
And as she opened the door, she nearly fell over from laughing so hard.
There was her husband, asleep on the couch, with little Eve sprawled on his chest. Now the scene was heartwarming enough, and would have made a perfect greeting card- had it not been for the large amounts of pink bows and hair ties adorning Soul's hair.
Her legs failed her, and tears leaked from the corners of her eyes. Soul woke and sat up, oblivious to his new hairdo. His look of confusion only added to the humor of the situation; in fact, it was ten times better now. Maka curled up and tried to put air back into her lungs. Eve woke too, giggling at her daddy. Soul seemed to realize what they were laughing about, cracking a smile. Carrying his little girl, he brought her over to his pretty wife and crouched down. When Maka had enough control, she looked up at him with a wide grin.
"I rock this, for the record."
This was all it took to send the two into howling fits of laughter, which ceased long after it supposedly should have.

Soul Maka: Fluff
He never knew she could be so cute.
He never would have though that serious, strict, abusive angry Maka could have such a soft, sweet side.
Pfft, I'll never think that again, Soul thought as he wrapped his arms a little tighter around his meister, blushing a bit when he heard the tiniest of squeaks come from her throat.
Damnit! Why is she being so girly? This was not cool. But at the same time he really didn't care.
He was currently under his meister, wedged in between her and their trusty sofa. She was in her signature yellow vest and plaid red skirt, her combat boots layed beside the sofa on the floor, having been already kicked off.

SoulxMaka FanFic - Dreamy
"Dammit! How can I, the great Blackstar, get stuck with extra luggage he doesn't even need!!!" Blackstar moaned. Maka sighed. He was so annoying sometimes. It was kinda true though. Maka had made Soul into a Death Scythe and Blackstar and Kid were getting noticeably stronger by the day.
"Death must have a good reason for putting us all together. It's got to be a big
mission," Maka stated. Blackstar huffed.
"Yes, this is true," Kid put in.
"I could have handled this myself," Blackstar said to himself, seemingly trying to be quiet but failing miserably. Maka rolled her eyes as we continued walking the streets of London.

SoulxMaka Fanfic - The Breakup
Maka quietly hummed to herself as she walked towards her apartment building carrying a few bags of groceries. She needed a few ingredients for her special Friday night dinner that she always made for Soul. It was always something different and she enjoyed watching Soul enjoy the meal.
She smiled to herself when she imagined him looking up to her after the meal with one of his big, toothy, crooked smiles; telling her he loved her and the food was the best he'd had yet, then whisking her away to their bedroom.
Maka picked up her pace a little, not wanting to wait anymore to see her five-year boyfriend who was 20 years old and was the most irr
